Caroline Rachel Sheffler b. 31 July 1833

Caroline, also referred to as Carolina, was married first to an unknown Mr. Elder, early in the 1850's and had two daughters, Elizabeth "Lizzie" born April 1854, and Margaret "Maggie" born February 1856. Mr. Elder must have died sometime in the mid to late 1850's, as the girls Lizzie and Maggie were living with Caroline's mother in 1860.

Around the same time Caroline married John Miller and around 1861 their first child, Anna Miller, was born.

By 1870 Maggie and Lizzie were living with Caroline and John and their other three children. Maggie and Lizzie went by the last name of Miller by this time, but it is not known at this point if they were ever officially adopted by John Miller.

Descendants, until very recently, have only known Margaret and Elizabeth as Millers.
